Camp Schedule:
Position Player Hitting Camp
The camp will start with a dynamic warm-up under the leadership of Dickinson College Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike Myers. The camp will include cage circuits and hitting instruction inside the Hare Indoor Training Facility. Campers will have access to using Driveline Training Bats, Hack Attack Pitching Machines, and Hit Trax Technology. The hitting circuits will include a skill development plan, a pre-game batting practice routine, and a situational hitting competition using Hit Trax. All position players will receive metrics recorded from Hit Trax following the camp, in addition to an assessment on areas of strength and areas to improve.
Following offensive instruction, we will do a tour of The Hare Indoor Training Facility as a group and do a Q+A sessions with our baseball staff and players. By this time, both position players and pitchers should all be present. Following the Q+A, position players who are not pitching or catching are dismissed. Estimated time of dismissal will be around 2:30 PM.
Pitching Camp
Pitchers
Pitchers will go through a full pre-game routine that Dickinson College pitchers follow. Pitchers will be organized into groups to complete these routines together. This includes our stretching routine, band routine, correctives, plyo routine, and catch play routine. The expectation is that the campers will follow the program to same standards as a Dickinson College pitcher. Following this preparation, pitchers will throw 25 pitches in their bullpen. The first 10 pitches will be a fastball command focus. The next 15 pitches will be focused on commanding all pitches. Once the pitcher’s bullpen is complete, each pitcher will go through the recovery routine that Dickinson College pitchers follow.
As part of the camp, pitchers who are done throwing will receive an overview of the standards of the Dickinson College Pitching Staff in a discussion style format in the Dickinson College Baseball Player’s Clubhouse. The intended goal of this discussion is to help players understand the nuances of pitching that help pitchers succeed at the college level.
Camp will conclude with a wrap up from Head Coach Craig Hanson and Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach Kraigen Rasalla. All pitchers will receive an evaluation and will receive any metrics recorded from the camp following the conclusion of camp.
Catcher Defensive Camp
Catchers will be put into groups to receive individualized defensive instruction, agility training, and catch bullpens for the pitchers in camp. Defensive instruction and agility training will include stances, footwork, exchanges, receiving, and blocking. Catching bullpens is where catchers will take the instruction they received and put it into action. Catchers will receive assessments on their ability demonstrated in individual defensive instruction and live bullpens following the conclusion of camp.
